Amityville

Introduction:

Finding a house this cheap is rare in New York. You're not one to believe the stories, but they say this home was refuge for one of the most evil spirits the small town of Amityville has ever known. All of the home's past owners and families have disappeared without warning. Everyone in town tells you to get out while you can -- loss is inevitable, and terror is unavoidable. We hope you enjoy your first night at your new home.

Summary

  • Recommend 3-4 escape artists
  • Solid horror experience
  • Puzzle flow is "search-and-find"

First Impressions

My escape room and I are accustomed to going to 60out and having solid experiences. The Temple St. 60out location also has Cartel which is certainly a favorite of mine.

Puzzles

The puzzles were good. Not anything epic or super difficult. I loved the use of vinyl records (considering I'm a vinylphile). Some puzzles seemed to function as a way to elevate the intensity of the room rather than challenge you mentally. The flow of the room was very multi-linear. Lastly, we felt the flow of the room was as follows: search/find item, place it where it needs to go then something happens. This would occur several times.

Immersion

The feel and ambiance of the room were on-point. When first entering the room, there was smoke in the room. Whoever built this room did a great a job. It really did feel like a haunted house. The room had moments of evil laughs and super-natural triggers. However, there was one moment in the experience that is still ingrained in my mind. You'll find out when you play this room. lol.

Value

Yet another solid room. The price for this experience is good. You'll be getting a great value due to how awesomely made the room is. The puzzles are good but nothing crazy good.

Should you play it?

For the experience, yes. Don't do it for the puzzles. Just go in with an open mind. (:
