First Impressions

It was our first time at Escape Room LA. I've seen YouTube videos of Conan O'Brien escape from The Detective (here). Rather than The Detective, we chose to book The Pyramid because it appeared to have the best reviews out of all the other rooms Escape Room LA offered. Escape Room LA likes to flaunt how many celebrities did their escape rooms. It was cool to see who went there. Our GM for our escape room was also our actor in the room and provided us with hints along the way.

Puzzles

The puzzles ranged from small puzzles and big-ass totem puzzles. All the puzzles were very fun and unique. There were numerous hi-tech puzzles. Some of the transitions between puzzles were very cool. The puzzles are definitely one of the highlights of this escape room.

Immersion

The immersion of this escape room was beautiful. They got the whole Aztec vibe down to a tee. Our team enjoyed the set very much. The only minor fall was the GM/actor in our room. We felt she gave hints too early when we didn't exactly need it. She did a great job acting, the hint-giving was a little quick.

Value

Great value! It just sucks that you have to the book the WHOLE room to have a private room.

Should you play it?

Yes. This a perfect room for big groups and of varying experiences. Newbies to experienced escape artists will definitely enjoy this escape room.
